WHITE PLAINS, NY, May 11, 2011 -- A consortium headed by ITT Corporation has been awarded a contract to provide two water pumping stations for an irrigation project in India that will bring water to 279,000 acres of land within 182 villages in the Kutch District.

The consortium will provide two pumping stations for the Kutch Branch Canal (KBC) Lift Irrigation Project. The pumping stations will have the capacity to pump 196 million liters daily and will utilize ITT Flygt® vertical column discharge pump sets. They will be the largest pumps of their kind to be built and/or operated in India.

The $74 million contract also calls for complete pump house equipment including electrical, mechanical and instrumentation.

The project is expected to be completed by end of 2012.
