SAN LEANDRO, CA, Oct. 26, 2011 -- Energy Recovery Inc's PX Pressure Exchanger™ (PX™) devices have been selected for the Al Zawrah large-scale seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) project in the Emirate of Ajman. The project is designed for maximum availability by virtually eliminating costly unplanned downtime.
The project was contracted by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) and is being managed by a consortium comprising Spanish water treatment company Cadagua, S.A. and UAE civil contractor ESSA Engineering & Marine Services LLC.
The Al Zawrah desalination project will provide about 45,000 cubic meters per day, or 10 million imperial gallons per day of clean drinking water.
"We are looking forward to utilizing the PX technology to assist us in providing clean, affordable water to the people of the Emirate of Ajman," said Antonio Casado, managing director, Cadagua. "We want to ensure that our plant operations do not experience unscheduled and expensive breakdowns from maintenance shut downs, and ERI is the company that can guarantee high efficiencies and maximum availability of plant operations."
