Baker awarded CM contract for upgrade project at Hunts Point Water Pollution Control Plant

NEW YORK, NY, Aug. 13, 2012 -- Michael Baker Engineering Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE MKT:BKR), as part of the Techno Consult Inc., joint venture (JV) team, has been awarded a contract by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) to provide construction management (CM) support services for all structures and equipment work related to the new $8 million Carbon Addition Facility located within the Hunts Point Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP). Baker's CM contract is valued at $1.4 million.

"This project is an integral part of the ongoing Hunts Point Plant Modernization Program, and it is imperative that the project be completed on time in order to comply with the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Administrative Consent Order of a Biological Nitrogen Reduction (BNR) Agreement in wastewater which this new facility will provide."

Hunts Point WPCP is located on the shore of the upper East River in the Hunts Point section of the borough of the Bronx in New York City, and serves approximately 685,000 local residents. Construction of the facility began in June 2012 with an anticipated completion date of April 2014.
