HOUSTON, TX, Sept. 27, 2012 -- Headworks® Inc., a leading manufacturer of screens and screenings handling equipment, recently received certification from the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a nationally recognized Women's Business Enterprise (WBE).

The WBENC certification for women-owned businesses is the most recognizable and sought after designation of its kind. In order to receive the certification, Headworks had to complete a rigorous, multi-faceted business application and review process conducted by a trained Certification Review Committee to verify that the company is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or a group of women.

"We couldn't be more proud to add this certification to our growing number of achievements," said Michele LaNoue, President and CEO of Headworks Inc. "As a certified women-owned business, Headworks Inc. will be able to bid for opportunities where funding has been specifically designated for minority businesses. Coupled with our market-leading equipment, the WBENC certification is a distinct competitive advantage for our company."

The WBENC provides and manages the development, enforcement, and implementation of its world-class certification, which is nationally accepted by thousands of major corporations and a select group of government entities.

The certification program provides government-owned procuring agencies with a tool to help meet their Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) contracting goal of 5% of prime contracting dollars being awarded to WOSBs. This also restricts competition to qualified WOSBs and Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Businesses (EDWOSB) to help increase their success to compete for and win federal contracts.
