Atlantium named finalist in prestigious Israeli water technology competition

Dec. 13, 2012
Atlantium Technologies Ltd. was chosen as one of six finalists in the Water Export Technology Revolution Competition in Israel.

Har-Tuv, Israel, Dec. 13, 2012 -- Atlantium Technologies Ltd., leader in Hydro-Optic™ UV (ultraviolet) water treatment for industrial applications, was chosen as one of six finalists in the Water Export Technology (W.E.T.) Revolution Competition, a contest designed to select the Israeli water technology company most likely to play a global role in delivering clean and abundant water worldwide. The business competition uses an American-Idol format and is sponsored by a delegation of 47 industry executives from Massachusetts, home to one of the world’s largest water industry clusters.

The competition was intense, with 32 Israeli companies vying for the recognition. The field was narrowed down by a panel of expert application reviewers to six finalists. Competition criteria included compelling technology, a strong management team, a solid business plan, financial stability and an existing customer base.

The final round of the W.E.T Revolution Competition, in Tel Aviv on Dec. 18, is before an audience of 150 water industry executives from the U.S. and Israel. Atlantium will present its innovative water technology for non-chemical UV disinfection, and after a quick “pitch," will respond to the Judges’ questions before the final vote.

Atlantium’s UV disinfection solutions meet the most stringent global water standards and guarantee water bio-security thanks to unique UV technology based on fiber-optic and hydraulic principles, Medium Pressure UV power and integrated software for real-time monitoring and control and push-of-a-button compliance reports. Atlantium is the only UV company in the world with third party validation to EPA 4-log virus credits using live Adenovirus.

“Atlantium was established to provide the world with safe and sustainable water treatment solutions” said Mr. Benjamin Kahn, CEO of Atlantium Technologies, named “Hero of the Environment” by Time Magazine. “It is a real honor for Atlantium to be chosen as finalist and to know that this distinguished group of water professionals appreciate the value of our paradigm-changing UV technology, and value the scientific contributions we have made and continue to make in this arena.”

“Israel is known globally as a leading source of water innovation and start-up companies,” said Jim Matheson, General Partner at Flagship Ventures, President and CEO of Oasys Water, and co-chair of the Massachusetts Water Innovation Mission to Israel, the trade delegation hosting the event during its December visit to Israel. “The outstanding pool of applicants wowed us with their company plans and a range of compelling technologies to address the world’s water needs.”
