Aqua Ohio is designating more than $20 million to water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the state of Ohio.

BOARDMAN, OHIO, June 21, 2013 -- Aqua Ohio, Inc. (Aqua) announced that it is designating more than $20 million to water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the state of Ohio for its 2013 capital program.

"Aqua's 2013 infrastructure improvement projects underscore our continued efforts to renew and rehabilitate our water and wastewater systems and replace the aging areas of our distribution systems that deliver water to our customers throughout the state," said Aqua Ohio President Edmund Kolodziej. "These types of investments are critical to ensuring our ability to maintain our systems and protect public health by complying with state and federal water quality regulations, and to provide reliable water and wastewater service to our customers in the most efficient way possible."

Aqua has already begun many projects and has completed several more. This year's program comes on the heels of the company's 2012 capital program, which included $19 million in similar improvements throughout the state. The company's planned capital spending across its Ohio operating divisions includes:

  • $5.2 million throughout its Lakeshore/Ashtabula operating divisions, which include portions of Lake, Geauga, Summit Williams and Ashtabula counties.
  • $6.3 million throughout its Stark operating division, which includes portions of Stark, Richland and Summit counties.
  • $1.7 million throughout its Struthers/Masury operating divisions, which include portions of Mahoning County and parts of Trumbull County.
  • $4.2 million throughout its Marion/Tiffin operating divisions, which include Marion and Seneca counties.
  • $3.1 million throughout its Franklin operating division, which includes portions of Franklin, Lawrence and Preble counties.
