The city of Cambridge, Mass., recently selected the InfoMaster Sewer -- a new asset management solution from Innovyze.

BROOMFIELD, CO, Jan. 7, 2014 -- The city of Cambridge, Mass., recently selected a new asset management solution designed to optimize rehabilitation, decrease operational costs, improve efficiency, and extend the lifespan of critical assets.

Provided by Innovyze, a global provider of business analytics software and technologies for smart wet infrastructure, the InfoMaster Sewer will provide the Cambridge with a comprehensive GIS-centric solution for data collection and analysis, enterprise risk management, predictive analytics and action-oriented decision making to optimize its sewer infrastructure at maximum benefits.

Cambridge is situated directly north of Boston, along the Charles River. It has a population of 105,000 and is home to two of the world's most prominent universities: Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The sewer system was first constructed in 1859 and today contains 115 miles of separated sewers, 78 miles of dedicated stormwater mains and 45 miles of combined sewers.

"By integrating condition assessment and analytics, the software (Infomaster) enables us to fine-tune asset performance and prioritize maintenance, repair and capital investments," said Brian McLane, P.E., project manager at the city of Cambridge. "Data related to the physical condition of sewer assets can be quickly reviewed, analyzed and ranked based on a rigorous risk analysis approach. This information is valuable in helping us not only to reliably plan and prioritize rehabilitation budgets and preventive maintenance and improvement programs, but to improve customer service."

Built atop ArcGIS (Esri, Redlands, CA), InfoMaster Sewer gives utilities critical insight into all enterprise assets, their conditions and work processes, facilitating significantly better planning and control. It lets them use powerful business analytics and smart network modeling capabilities in new ways to drive higher productivity and quality while managing costs and increasing operational flexibility. It also provides them the framework for systematically analyzing and calculating asset criticality and risk, predicting replacement costs, and carrying out scenario-based planning for infrastructure maintenance and replacement rehabilitation.

Armed with these advantages, utilities can create well-engineered condition- and risk-based capital improvement plans, optimize their infrastructures and keep them operating well into the future. InfoMaster Seweris NASSCO PACP, MACP and LACP V6.0 certified, and includes components to run on desktop, web, tablet, and smartphone environments.
