Downtown Miami to expand sewer system capacity with new contract

Miami Dade County awarded a contract to Poole & Kent Company of Florida, a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., for construction of Master Pump Station No. 3.


NORWALK, CT, March 17, 2014 -- Miami Dade County awarded a contract to Poole & Kent Company of Florida, a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME) -- a specialist in mechanical and electrical construction, industrial and energy infrastructure, and building services -- for construction of its Master Pump Station No. 3.

Poole & Kent will be responsible for all aspects of construction related to Miami Dade's Pump Station No. 3 -- a pumping facility that will help expand downtown Miami's sewer capacity. The project includes constructing two multilevel structures: a pump station housing four 300-horsepower centrifugal pumps and a generator building with a 1,500-kilowatt standby emergency diesel generator.

Additional work includes installation of mechanical and yard piping, a hydraulic reservoir system, mechanical controls, fuel systems, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, fiber optic cables, and electrical and instrumentation for a complete and operating facility.
