Ontario water treatment plant to receive C$2.3-million in upgrades

AECOM Technology Corporation has been awarded a $2.3-million (CAD) contract by Region of Peel for facility improvements at the 1,150-mega-liters-per-day, 304-million-gallons-per-dayi, Lakeview Water Treatment Plant, in Mississauga, Ontario.


LOS ANGELES, CA, May 2, 2014 -- AECOM Technology Corporation, a global provider of professional technical and management support services for public and private clients, has been awarded a $2.3-million (CAD) contract by Region of Peel for facility improvements at the 1,150-mega-liters-per-day (ML/d), 304-million-gallons-per-day (MGD), Lakeview Water Treatment Plant, in Mississauga, Ontario.

AECOM will be responsible for detailed design and contract administration services for the facility improvements, which include a retrofit and rehabilitation of the existing 400 ML/d (106 MGD) conventional filtration systems and tanks, construction of a new 400 ML/d (106 MGD) ultraviolet (UV) treatment system and improvements to the 1,150 ML/d (304 MGD) process treatment waste facility.

"This important project is being undertaken to meet the region's high standards for water quality and to ensure our facility continues to meet and exceed current and future provincial regulations," said Andrew Farr, director of water, Region of Peel. The project's design work is currently underway, and construction is expected to be completed by mid-2016.
