WaterTAP appoints four new influential water sector leaders

WaterTAP announced that is board of directors has added four new directors -- Rhonda E. Harris, P.E., MBA; Erin Mahoney, M.Eng.; Kenneth A. Morrison, P.Eng., FCSCE; and Rick VanSan -- who will guide the organization in its mandate to promote and strengthen the city's water sector.

TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, Sept. 8, 2014 -- WaterTAP, a not-for-profit water technology accelerator program for Ontario, Canada, recently announced that its board of directors has added four new directors -- Rhonda E. Harris, P.E., MBA; Erin Mahoney, M.Eng.; Kenneth A. Morrison, P.Eng., FCSCE; and Rick VanSan -- who will guide the organization in its mandate to promote and strengthen the city's water sector.

WaterTAP Board Chair Brent Wootton explained that the new members "represent a broad spectrum of experience in the water sector, from the engineering firms that oversee water infrastructure projects, to the municipalities that deal with management of the resource, to the innovators and entrepreneurs developing the solutions."

Under WaterTAP's corporate charter that provides for a private-sector framework, the board selects its members autonomously, following a call for directors and careful screening. The new directors will assume their board duties immediately. The following provides further information about the officials:

Rhonda Harris

With more than 35 years of experience in managing and administering a variety of facilities and programs in the water environment industry, Harris is director of training for Consulting Services at CH2M Hill International, Ltd.

Erin Mahoney

Mahoney is commissioner of Environmental Services for The Regional Municipality of York. Responsible for managing over 300 staff, she leads implementation of a $3-billion, 10-year capital infrastructure budget and oversees delivery of water, wastewater, waste management, and forestry services.

Ken Morrison

As President of R.V. Anderson Associates Limited, Morrison has 40 years of experience in the provision of professional services and advice for infrastructure and environment projects related to water, wastewater, transportation, urban development, and telecommunications.

Rick VanSant

An experienced entrepreneur and angel investor, VanSant is the president and CEO of UV Pure Technologies, an early-stage Canadian environmental technology company. Prior to UV Pure Technologies, he founded and/or led many public and private companies, including Moneysworth & Best Quality Shoe Repair and several food and beverage, hospitality, service, and retail goods businesses.
