WWEMA's 106th annual meeting to feature leading experts, cover critical industry issues

On Nov. 6-8, the Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association will host its 106th Annual Meeting at Loews Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Ariz. 

LEESBURG, VA, Sept. 26, 2014 -- On Nov. 6-8, the Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA) will host its 106th Annual Meeting at Loews Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Ariz. Covering every area of the water and wastewater business, the convention will provide insights critical to the success of water and wastewater technology providers.

Titled "Building a Better Future: Advocate. Inform. Connect.", the meeting will offers attendees unparalleled educational and networking opportunities as top experts share their perspectives on today's political, economic, regulatory, business, and market landscape. The following list identifies those who will present at WWEMA's annual session:

  • Anirban Basu (Chairman and CEO, Sage Policy Group Inc., Baltimore, Md.; Chief Economist, Associated Builders and Contractors; and Chief Economic Advisor, Construction Financial Management Association): Basu will provide an economist's view of international, national and regional issues affecting the water and wastewater industry.
  • Martin Kady II (Managing Editor, Policy, Politico, Washington, D.C.): Kady will provide insight into the mid-term election results and share his perspective on what the businesses in the water and wastewater industry can expect from Congress in the coming year.
  • Guy Carpenter, P.E. (National Manager, Water Reuse/Water Resources Group, Carollo Engineering, Phoenix, Ariz.; and First Vice President, WateReuse Association): Carpenter will examine the role and future of water reuse in the U.S. as well as priorities for programming and research for the WateReuse Association.
  • Shane Snyder, Ph.D. (Professor, College of Engineering, University of Arizona; and Co-Director, Arizona Laboratory for Emerging Contaminants, Tucson, Ariz.): Snyder will discuss his research on emerging contaminants and development of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Contaminant Candidate List 3.
  • Mike Fulton (Director, Water Quality Division, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality; and President, Association of Clean Water Agencies (ACWA)): Fulton will discuss water issues in Arizona, including the state's challenges and priorities, as well as information on ACWA and its programs.
  • Jim Taft (Executive Director, Association of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA), Washington, D.C.): Taft will discuss drinking water issues at the state level and ASDWA programs and priorities, as well as opportunities for ASDWA and WWEMA to collaborate in the future.
  • Scott Hunter (Founder and CEO, Unshackled Leadership Co., San Juan Capistrano, Calif.): Hunter will conduct a three-hour training seminar on how to improve workplace performance and increase bottom-line profitability.
  • Mark Marangella (Co-Founding Managing Director, ACBridge Global Advisors, Herndon, Va.); and Tao Zhang (Founder and CEO, Dao Ventures, Beijing, China): Marangella and Zhang will discuss a business accelerator in China focused on facilitating the expansion of U.S. water and wastewater companies into that country's regional and national markets.
  • Chad Seidel, Ph.D., P.E. (Director, DeRISK Center, Boulder, Colo.): On Tuesday, Sept. 9, EPA announced two new national centers for innovation in small drinking water systems (see "EPA to fund development of two new major drinking water innovation centers"). Seidel, named director of one of those centers, will discuss the centers' goals and priorities and how WWEMA and its members can help partner on initiatives to promote the use of innovative technology within the industry.
  • WWEMA Update: WWEMA Executive Director Vanessa Leiby; Presidents Council Chairman Chuck Powers; and Janney Capital Market Managing Director, Water & Agriculture, Ryan Connors will share Association reports and new initiatives
