MA public water systems earn prestigious awards for superior performance

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection announced that the City of Gloucester, City of Lynn and Town of Sturbridge public water systems have received awards for recent achievements and superior performance in 2014.

BOSTON, MA, May 22, 2015 -- The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection announced that the City of Gloucester, City of Lynn and Town of Sturbridge public water systems -- three municipal community partners of Veolia, an international water, waste and energy management company -- have received awards for recent achievements and superior performance in 2014.

"Though diverse in their size and scope, the public water systems in Gloucester, Lynn and Sturbridge reflect a strong commitment made by each community to the quality treatment of our most precious resource: water," said Vincent Martin, senior vice president, Northeast region for Veolia North America's Municipal and Commercial Business.

"Veolia North America is proud to serve as the operations, maintenance and management (O&M) partner to these communities, helping achieve superior drinking water quality, compliance and safety," he continued.

  • Gloucester DPW Water Department: With its recent completion of $35 million in infrastructure improvements, the City of Gloucester received a 'Recognition Award', acknowledging its commitment to maintaining high-quality drinking water and improving its public water system.
  • Sturbridge Water Department: Underscoring its exceptional performance in 2014, Sturbridge was awarded with a 'Medium and Large Community' award, acknowledging the town's commitment to compliance and the quality of its public water system.
  • Lynn Water and Sewer Commission — The City of Lynn was also awarded a 'Medium and Large Community' award for its excellent drinking water compliance record in the last year.
