Baldor Electric has published a new catalog of Baldor-Reliance stock electric motors and drive products. The 580 page catalog, released in March, details more than 10,000 motor ratings in types that include premium efficiency, severe duty, explosion-proof, washdown duty, inverter/vector, brake, farm duty and DC. Motor horsepowers range from 1/50 to 1,500 HP. Drive products include the new V*S drives, from 1 through 800 HP, and Micro Drives from ½ through 3 HP. The catalog includes a Mod Express™ section that explains over 100 common modifications that can be made before shipment to customize your motor.

Tank level monitoring
The Echo-Scale™ ultrasonic sensor from Force Flow allows operators to monitor the amount of chemical used and how much remains in bulk storage tanks. Literature on the sensor is available on the company website. Users can monitor up to four separate tanks from a single display by combining the sensor with the company’s Wizard 4000® advanced multi-channel indicator. To field calibrate the Echo-Scale, the Wizard’s EZ Cal™ software simply prompts user for diameter of the tank and the current height of chemical in tank. Tank condition can be seen in gallons, liters, inches or centimeters and can even be viewed in lb or kg by entering specific gravity of the chemical. If local indication is not required, the system can be used “stand alone” by sending its 4-20mA output direct to a computer.

Inside drop system
Reliner®/Duran has published a brochure describing its Inside Drop system for sanitary manholes and wet wells, The components can be used in new or existing construction to eliminate troublesome outside drops or to rehabilitate failed inside drops. The can be used in wet wells to help prevent pump cavitation, thus increasing pump life. Check valve
The City of Fresno California Water Department was experiencing valve slam at its well stations. After two failed competitor valves, staff installed a Val-Matic Surgebuster® Check Valve at a pumping station. Plastic control valve
A 2" flanged plastic control valve, designed to handle corrosive fluids, is now available from Collins Instrument Co. The valve is discussed in a 12-page brochure available on the company’s website. The Model 2060 features a body of either PVDF or polypropylene and an actuator/yoke of glass-filled polypropylene, making it suitable for harsh fluids and/or corrosive environments. Depending on the application, the valve can be equipped with either a pneumatic positioner, a positioner with integral I/P, or an electric actuator. The new valve features a 2" body with 150 psi flat-faced ANSI flanges.

Water savings calculator
Cla-Val recently released an interactive water savings calculator for water distribution system managers. The online calculator, available on the company website, is designed to illustrate the volume of water and associated costs that can be saved by incorporating the company’s 98 Series Advanced Hydraulic Pressure Management Valves into their pipeline networks. The calculator provides an estimate of the water and cost savings that can be achieved through pressure management using system data that is entered into the calculator by the user.

Alkalinity titrator
The HI 84431 is an automatic titrator designed for fast analysis of Total Titratable Alkalinity in water. A 4-page brochure on the instrument is available on the Hanna Instruments website. Potentiometric endpoint determination, peristaltic titrant delivery and integrated magnetic stirring systems eliminate the error and technique dependent results associated with manual titrations. The instrument’s endpoint determination algorithm analyzes the pH vs. volume curve to determine the exact pH endpoint and performs the necessary calculations. There are two accepted methods for the determination of alkalinity by titration.
