hen comparing elevated water tank (EWT) designs for a project located in the community of McComas, W.Va., Stafford Consultants Inc., a Princeton, W.Va.-based engineering firm, selected a premier elevated design offered by Tank Connection (TC), a storage containment provider based in Parsons, Kan.

The elected EWT design, alled the "Poster Series," is a specially-designed bulk water storage tank that provides high quality and field safety (EMR .59). Utilizing a synchronized jacking process, the tank was jacked from grade level. Further, the EWT was built from the top down, while TC erection crews worked from grade level.

For this project, TC supplied the site work, foundation installation, tank fabrication and installation, mixing system, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and additional scope items for a complete turnkey project. Although the jobsite received excessive rainfall during construction, the project engineer explained that from receipt of contract to tank completion, TC finalized the project in 119 days.

The elevated Poster Series' bolted pedestal and tank are constructed of high-quality rolled, tapered panels (RTP) layered with TC's LIQ Fusion 7000 FBE™ coating system. The company's coating systems are factory baked-on to a substrate surface that has been blasted to an SP10 (near white) surface profile. Further, the tank floor consists of unique modular steel that also includes TC's special baked-on Fusion coating system.

The Poster Series is available utilizing a bolted steel pedestal or jump-form composite/concrete pedestal design. Smaller Poster designs can be jacked entirely from grade level, which keeps construction crews on the ground during installation. Moreover, the EWT design is available with unlimited logo and aesthetic features and can easily cut field installation timeframe in half over other options.

Offered for both the domestic and international markets, the Poster Series is also easily containerized for global shipments. Optional tank accessories are available as well, including access stairways and ladders, maintenance access platforms, level indicators, and perimeter guardrails, among others.

The McComas tank has a diameter of 21.54 feet (6.57 meters) and a height of 95 feet (28.96 meters), with a volume of 56,000 gallons (211.98 cubic meters). Other Poster Series designs are available in sizes ranging from 50,000 up to 350,000 gallons, while composite pedestal designs are available from 200,000 up to 2,000,000 gallons.

An ISO 9001 certified company, Tank Connection is the exclusive provider of this elevated water tank system and maintains the only powder coat line "certified" to apply this coating for bolted water tank applications. All TC water storage systems are designed for long life, low maintenance and a low lifecycle cost.
