There’s an old saying that it’s better to be busy than bored. Well, I couldn’t agree more.

There’s an old saying that it’s better to be busy than bored. Well, I couldn’t agree more. We’ve got a lot of new things in the works and we’re thrilled to be able to share them with you.

Planning is moving full steam ahead for our next installment of the Urban Water Management Conference and Exhibition. Slated for March 24-26, Urban Water Management 2009 will take place in Overland Park, KS, just outside Kansas City.

We’re excited to announce that this year, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) is our flagship association partner, and the City of Independence Water Pollution Control Department is our flagship utility sponsor. Both are wonderful additions to the event!

The conference agenda will include 45 presentations, covering topics such as erosion control, low impact development, stormwater program management, regulations and compliance, hydraulic modeling, and green infrastructure — to name a few.

Trying to outfit your stormwater program? Our exhibit floor will feature some of the most innovative products on the market today.

Registration is now officially open so check out the show website for details: www.urbanwatermgt.com.

Ah, but that’s not all! We’ve just officially launched our WaterWorld Community Site. In the spirit of other social networking sites — but with a distinct focus on the water industry — the WaterWorld Community Site provides a place for water industry professionals to come together, share ideas, ask questions, and above all, network with one another.

As a member, you can build a profile, post pictures or video, start a blog or a group, and post comments. Got something to say? Want to share an interesting project? Have a question for a colleague? Then, come check out our community at community.waterworld.com and get connected to other water industry professionals.

And last but not least, another initiative we’ve been working on is our online video gallery. Housed on waterworld.com, our growing collection of videos features clips from a number of events — such as the recent World Water Week in Stockholm — as well as other industry-related news and product information. If you have a video you’d like to share with us, let me know!

That’s just a sneak peek at the buzz around here. Hope to see you online or in person! Now, I better get back to work...
