RFID marker locators

The new 3M Dynatel Locators 2500 Series provides more active and passive frequencies, higher power and a new trace view mode. This new mode presents an intuitive map display showing the utility path combined with a precision peak antenna based array to provide confidence in utility location. All series locators are compatible with select GPS/GIS field mapping instruments for real time mapping of electronic markers or pipe and cable facilities. The locators have six active frequencies (577Hz, 1 kHz, 8kHz, 33 kHz, 82 kHz and 200 kHz), which can be used individually or four frequencies simultaneously (577 Hz, 8 kHz, 33 kHz and 200 kHz) to compensate for varying field conditions.

Pipe bursting

TT Technologies will be displaying the Grundoburst static pipe bursting system at WEFTEC 2009. The system is ideal for the replacement of water and sewer pipe and can pull in a variety of replacement pipe including PVC, DIP, ABS, cast iron, fusion welded HDPE and VCP jacking pipe. Pulled by a hydraulic bursting unit, the cutter head's special cutting wheels split the host pipe. Patented QuickLock bursting rods are linked together not threaded. This saves time, prevents twisting and extends the life of the cutter head over threaded bursting rods. Six models are available for bursting 2" through 54" pipes and larger.

Expansion joints

The Force Balanced Flex-Tend® Flexible Expansion Joint from EBAA Iron can accommodate pressure-induced thrust forces. It uses an additional water chamber piston that acts in the equal and opposite direction of the imparting thrust and neutralizes the thrust forces. This allows designers to use flexible expansion joints in applications where thrust blocks or other force-restricting devices are not applicable. Force balanced joints also protect pipelines that serve structures from shear.
