Stormwater filtration

Filterra Bioretention Systems harness the power of nature to capture, cycle and immobilize stormwater pollutants to treat urban runoff. For effective stormwater management, the combination of landscape vegetation and a specially designed filter media allows bacteria, metals, nutrients and total suspended solids (TSS) to be removed naturally. The system has a small footprint that allows it to be used in highly developed sites such as landscaped areas, green space, parking lots, and streetscapes. The system may be used for new build and retrofit developments to meet specific stormwater regulations and water quality needs.

DBP, TOC reduction

The High Rate MIEX® System uses an advanced ion exchange process for the removal contaminants from water and wastewater streams and is most commonly used for the reduction of TOC, disinfection by-products, color, and nitrate. These systems have small footprints, very low waste volumes and are not subject to chromatographic peaking. The resin used in the process has a magnetic property that allows the resin beads to be retained in a fluidized bed at high hydraulic loading rates. The system can be used as a stand-alone treatment process or in combination with other processes to meet more than one treatment objective. When used as a pretreatment step to membranes and coagulation/sedimentation, numerous downstream benefits can be achieved.

Stormwater filter

The StormSafe™ HF10 from Transpo Industries is designed specifically to reduce pathogens/bacteria contained in surface water runoff at high flow rates. As an end-of-pipe solution, it is scalable and can be built with as many as six filter tubes providing treatment rates up to 20cfs. The filter tube uses helical filtering elements to provide a filtering path through the FabGuard anti-microbial shield. This filtration media reduces bacteria by up to 90%. The lightweight filter elements are easy to access for replacement through manholes provided. The system uses standard 30" diameter corrugated plastic pipe.

Membrane bioreactor

Layne Christensen has received an exclusive license to sell the POREFLON Membrane Bioreactor in the United States. The system features unique PTFE membranes that are stronger and more chemically-resistant than other types. Filtration is achieved with 0.2 micron pore sizes similar to PVDF and PET, but with higher porosity, resulting in twice the flux rate of conventional systems. This means that more treatment can be accomplished with significantly less capital equipment. The PTFE membranes can survive acids, alkaline solutions, oxidizers and solvents. The membranes can operate at temperatures up to 50 degrees C, making them ideal for industrial applications.
