July 1, 2011 -- The completion of the largest operating photovoltaic array on Cape Cod was commemorated with a ribbon cutting ceremony this week at the Yarmouth-Dennis Septage Treatment Facility in South Yarmouth, MA.

The 276 kW roof-mounted array, designed by The Waterline Companies (Seabrook, NH), includes 1,200 Canadian Solar 230W panels, a Solectria SGI 266 inverter and a Sunlink ballasted racking system.

The system, which was financially structured as a power purchase agreement, is expected to generate approximately 300,000 kWh of electricity annually and, in the first year alone, will save the towns of Yarmouth and Dennis $33,000 in utility expenses.

Over its lifetime, the system is expected to yield a savings of nearly $1,000,000.
