On the heels of its 125th Anniversary year, American Water has released the results of a year-long, nationwide campaign to educate and raise awareness about the value of water. The nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility launched a variety of efforts in 2011 that used its milestone anniversary as a platform to promote water conservation and efficiency, and the importance of protecting this precious resource from source to tap.
Read More >The Westchester County Supreme Court has ruled that New York State is failing to take legally required steps to clean up one of the biggest sources of pollution in its waterways - stormwater runoff. The decision comes after a lawsuit filed by the Natural Resources Defense Council, Waterkeeper organizations in the region and other partners, challenging the statewide “general permit” for stormwater discharges from municipal sewers. The court ordered the agency to fix several major flaws in the permit, to ensure all Clean Water Act requirements are met.
