8:00-8:30 a.m.
Speaker Presentation: Watershed Collaboration = Friends with Green Benefits
Kevin Shafer, Executive Director, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District

The health of our country's watersheds depends on the good deeds of many watershed inhabitants. Whether they be city slickers or farmers, clean water is a unifying cause. Understanding this simple fact makes working together much easier and has many mutual benefits. In Milwaukee, a watershed-wide collaborative effort is helping us to realize these benefits by aligning the deeds of many into a cohesive, adaptable watershed approach. The green benefits derived from this approach include regional green infrastructure implementation, improved trust, improved understanding, increased financial resources and friendships. Much is left to accomplish, but we now have a community starting to put the little steps together into a much larger journey.
