The new E-Series Meter from Badger Meter is an electronic, solid-state meter with no moving parts. It has a battery life of up to 20 years. The meter works by using ultrasonic transducers mounted within the meter housing. Based on the measurement of signals sent in rapid succession in both forward and reverse directions, and the temperature of the water, calculations are made to continually determine the flow rate and consumption. The meter is sealed for protection against tampering and is completely submersible.

AMR system

Datamatic offers Mosaic™, an AMR system supporting a migration path through walk-by, mobile and true mesh network collection methods using the same endpoint, a Mosaic-class Firefly. Although most utilities will move quickly to full mesh network functionality, the system can operate indefinitely using any mixture of collection methods. Each endpoint functions as both a meter interface unit and a repeater.

Single-jet meters

The Spectrum Single-Jet Meter from Metron Farnier is the widest range single measuring element meter available to US utilities. The meters have been designed to replace compound type and turbine type meters for commercial services. The meters feature a 1000:1 turndown ratio and superior low flow registration. They are unaffected by sand or small debris in the line and have no straight pipe requirements upstream or downstream of the meter. The meters can be combined with AMR/AMI systems from Transparent Technologies to help reduce unaccounted for water and increase revenues. The system offers true 2-way datalogging and network or drive-by AMR.

Utilities that deploy a KP Fixed Network can now use the system for both AMR and security applications at no extra cost. Various types of sensors such as motion, door contact, water level, PH levels, or any other sensor can now be monitored in real-time by the utility. The Mega-Net automatic meter reading system uses long-range end points (tens of miles), so it does not require an extensive network of data collectors and antennas. The long-range nature of the system makes it ideal for utilities that wish to implement a fixed network AMR system, no matter the size of their service area.
