Pipe renovation

The patent-pending PipeMedic™ system offers significant advantages over the conventional carbon wet layup technique in pipe renovation. The company’s carbon laminates are manufactured as thin flat sheets that are coiled and taken into a pipe, tank or silo. The sheets are released and uncoil similar to a loaded spring, sticking against the surface of the pipe. Bonding to the pipe can be achieved by applying a thin coat of epoxy to the surface of the pipe. The flexible laminates allow adjustments and can be installed in single bands or in a continuous spiral configuration.

Corrosion monitoring

Rohrback Cosasco Systems offers both retractable and retrievable bio-probes for monitoring microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). Cosasco Model 6205 and 6215 bio-probes can be used to collect samples of sessile bacteria deposited on the metal surface in the MIC process. The bio-probes have five sample elements, each with an exposed frontal area of one square centimeter. Each time a sample is required for analysis a successive element is removed and replaced with a new one, leaving the other four in place.

Hach has released three new fully interchangeable IntelliCAL™ probes for its HQd line of meters. These probes provide portable measurement of ORP, sodium, and pH for low-ionic strength samples for analysis in the lab or field. With the addition of these new probes, the company now offers a full suite for electrochemistry testing including BOD, conductivity, DO, ORP, pH, and sodium. Unlike other probes on the market, all IntelliCAL probes interchange fully with a single meter. When switching between parameters, the operator simply plugs the probe into the HQd meter.

Inside drops

Pump life can be extended by preventing aerated influent from being drawn into the pumps, as this is the primary cause of cavitation. Use of a Reliner® Inside Drop can help reduce pump related problems as well as reduced general maintenance and odor complaints. The drop pipe should be extended below the low limit level and cut to follow the slope of the fillet.
