In today’s environment, we all need to find ways to do more with less. We need to be more efficient and accountable. One way the water and wastewater industries have achieved that is by adopting lean principles – leveraging new technology and processes to modernize the industry. United Water has embraced lean operations and has been able to control the cost and pricing of water while improving efficiency. One of their secrets has been an emphasis on data management and making their data meaningful. This paper illustrates lean principles that water and wastewater facilities can incorporate into their daily operations to -do more with less in the face of ever-changing regulations and tight budget constraints.
