America's Water Infrastructure Act now heads to President Trump's desk.

WASHINGTON, DC, OCT 15, 2018 -- After approval in both the House and Senate, America's Water Infrastructure Act is heading to President Trump's desk.

The water infrastructure bill will reauthorize Army Corps of Engineers levee, port, dam, and environmental restoration projects, in addition to authorizing $4.4 billion over three years for the drinking water revolving fund. WIFIA reauthorization is also included in the bill's provisions.

The bill authorizes $50 million over two years for grants to test drinking water at schools and childcare facilities for lead; and an additional $15 million over three years for grants to replace drinking water fountains at schools.

Seante Bill 2800, as it is also known, would require a report, due in two years, to identify "intractable" water systems — those that serve fewer than 1,000 people; as well as requiring an emergency response plan addressing cyberattack, chemical spills, natural hazards, and more from drinking water systems serving more than 3,300 people.
