Nominations Open for the 2019 Clarke Prize

The $50K prize recognizes achievement in water science and technology.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA, APRIL 3, 2019 -- Nominations are being accepted for the 2019 Clarke Prize, which is awarded for outstanding achievement in water science and technology. National Water Research Institute (NWRI) administers the $50,000 prize that is offered by the Joan Irvine Smith and Athalie Richardson Irvine Clarke Foundation.

The Clarke Prize is awarded annually to leaders in water research, science, technology or policy. Clarke Prize nominees and laureates are from wide-ranging disciplines including civil and environmental engineering, water science, biological science, health science, political science, physical and chemical science, and public planning and policy. Nominees must work within the United States or have a significant body of work within the United States.

Mrs. Clarke co-founded NWRI, a 50(c)3 nonprofit, in 1991. Located in Orange County, California, NWRI collaborates with water utilities, regulators, and researchers to help develop new, healthy sources of drinking water.

Nominations must be received by May 31, 2019. The Clarke Prize Executive Committee, which includes a roster of leading American water experts, will consider the nominations and name the new laureate in July. The award ceremony will be in Orange County, California, in October 2019.
