Covansys Corp., a global consulting and technology services company, has completed Phase I of a $3.9 million contract to implement a drinking water information system on behalf of the state of Washington Department of Health, Division of Drinking Water.
Currently in phase II of the project, the new system, called Sentry, is being designed to improve the state's ability to track drinking water supplies and distribution, thereby increasing the division's ability to prevent water contamination. Scheduled to be fully operational by mid-2003, Sentry will modernize the division's information processing platform by replacing an outdated mainframe system with a more efficient Web-based system.
Sentry is a Web-based application that enhances the state's ability to track every registered drinking water supply in Washington with an easy-to-use interface. It also increases efficiency, saving time and money due to faster reporting capabilities -- both predefined and ad-hoc -- of each water system's water sample lab test results.
"Covansys takes pride in helping state and local governments improve the quality of services that they provide to their citizens," said Arvind Malhotra, vice president, Covansys Public Sector Practice. "With Sentry, we are confident that we are providing a more reliable and scalable system that will serve the state of Washington well for many years to come."
Sentry was built using HTML/ASP/XML/XSLT, VB/COM+, SQL Server 2000 and Crystal Reports.
