AWWA Show to Focus on Future
More than 500 equipment companies, organizations and consulting firms will exhibit the latest products, technologies and services available to the drinking water industry June 11-15 during the 2000 American Water Works Association annual Conference and Exposition.
The annual conference is expected to attract more than 13,000 drinking water professionals to the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. This year's event will feature more than 100 technical sessions led by industry experts, eight workshops for hands-on practical education, and six technical tours that will give attendees an inside look at regional water systems.
Topics to be addressed during the technical sessions include distribution systems and plant operations, legislation and regulations, small system concerns, water conservation, and engineering and construction. Workshops will focus on distribution, customer satisfaction, conflict within an organization and filter backwash concerns.
This year's opening session will address "The Future of Customer Service in a High Tech World" and will feature Dr. James Canton, an internationally recognized futurist, digital entrepreneur, author, and advisor to Global Fortune 1000 companies. Canton is executive director of the Institute For Global Futures, a strategic think tank. He also is editor-in-chief of 21st Century Online, an Internet magazine.
The exposition complements AWWA's technical program, making the annual conference the most comprehensive water industry function in the world. Exposition hours are noon to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Booths will be staffed by organizations and companies that have the products and services to meet the needs, provide the solutions, and answer the unique demands of the water supply community. On display will be information on pipes, valves, meters, hydrants, engineering services, water treatment systems, laboratory equipment and much more.
