Cabot Corporation’s HYDRODARCO® 4000 and NORIT® GAC 400 are granular activated carbons (GAC) for the removal of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAs) including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in public water systems.

Unlike other types of activated carbon, HYDRODARCO 4000 and NORIT GAC 400 activated carbons have optimized pore size distributions that provide a large quantity of adsorption sites for PFOA and PFOS removal. These products resist interference from natural organic matter that can cause partial or complete blockage of the activated carbon pore structure, leading to reduced adsorptive capacity for target contaminants including PFOA and PFOS.
