Osmonics obtains ANSI/NSF Standard 42 drinking water treatment units certification

Osmonics Inc. has obtained ANSI/NSF Standard 42 water treatment system parts safety certification for its Hytrex®, Selex® and Purtrex™ pure polypropylene cartridge depth filter lines.

MINNETONKA, Minn., July 1, 2002 -- In response to increased interest in drinking water safety, Osmonics Inc. has obtained ANSI/NSF Standard 42 drinking water treatment system components material safety certification for its Hytrex®, Selex® and Purtrex™ pure polypropylene cartridge depth filter lines.

This certification assures that the filters that are designed to reduce specific aesthetic-related contaminants meet requirements for material safety. For commercial and industrial end users, such as bottled water producers, NSF Standard 42 provides documentation demonstrating that the filters they use in water treatment systems have been tested and qualified by a leading independent testing organization.

NSF is a World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Drinking Water Safety and Treatment, which positions NSF Standards and NSF certified products to be embraced around the world.

"As water quality continues to deteriorate, consumers are becoming more and more concerned about the purity of water they consume," said Roger Miller, senior vice president and general manager, Osmonics Filtration & Separations Group. "By using NSF-certified Osmonics depth filters, our customers are assured that they are using the highest quality product to create consumables for consumers and to protect their water treatment systems."

Osmonics Hytrex, Selex and Purtrex filters feature pure polypropylene construction using Osmonics' patented meltblown microfiber technology. Unlike string-wound or resin-bonded filters that use glues and adhesives, Osmonics depth filters use only pure materials, enabling them to meet NSF Standard 42 material safety requirements, as well as FDA requirements for food and beverage contact.

Osmonics depth filters are available in standard lengths to fit most housings (custom lengths also available) and offer a wide range of polypropylene end-adapters, including gaskets, extended cores and Osmonics' patented self-seal polypropylene springs.

The Hytrex, Selex and Purtrex filters join Aquatrex™, an Osmonics depth filter designed for light commercial and household applications, which also has NSF Standard 42 certification.
