HADDON HEIGHTS, N.J., May 3, 2002 -- From north to south, east to west, New Jersey-American Water Co. is celebrating this year's National Drinking Water Week, May 5-11, 2002 across the state.
To kick off the week dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of protecting our water, New Jersey-American will donate a drinking fountain in Delran, Burlington County on May 6 at 8:30 a.m. at the Conrow Park-Kids Kingdom on Conrow Road. Delran runs its summer camp program at Conrow Park, which draws between 200 and 250 local children everyday.
On May 7 at 9:00 a.m. in Berkeley Heights, Union County at Memorial Field, NJAWC will donate another drinking fountain. Mayor David Cowen and other government officials will be on hand for the groundbreaking.
On May 10 in Asbury Park, Monmouth County at the Bangs Avenue Elementary School, New Jersey-American associates will be joined by Assemblyman Corodemus and school officials to dedicate and demonstrate the Enviroscape for the students and faculty.
The Enviroscape is an interactive model that teaches children and adults about the sources of water pollution and ways to prevent it. The educational tool is also mobile, enabling Asbury Park's educators to spread the word of water source protection throughout the City, County and State.
And on May 11 in Galloway Township, Atlantic County, New Jersey-American will participate in the First Annual Kid's Fun and Safety Day. Associates will set up an informational booth to promote wise water use.
For more than 30 years, the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the world's largest scientific and educational organization dedicated to drinking water quality and public drinking water supply, has celebrated Drinking Water Week with its member Companies.
As members of the AWWA and the Partnership for Safe Water, New Jersey- American takes an active role in Drinking Water Week to help raise public awareness of the importance of protecting and valuing our drinking water sources.
