PITTSBURGH, Feb. 1, 2002 -- Calgon Carbon Corporation announced today that during January it recently received new contracts totaling more than $11 million. Revenue and income from the contracts will be realized in 2002.
The contracts include:
-- Sale of a $4.5 million ISEP® system to remove perchlorate from groundwater.
-- Sale of a Sentinel UV® Disinfection System to inactivate cryptosporidium and other pathogens in drinking water.
-- Orders for the company's specialty carbons to remove MTBE from groundwater and mercury from natural gas.
-- New service sales exceeding $3 million, primarily for the municipal and oil industries.
Commenting on the new business, Jim Cederna, Calgon Carbon's chairman and president, said, "We are encouraged by the sales momentum that is building early in the year. These contracts represent the type of new business that will drive Calgon Carbon's sales and earnings growth in 2002."
