AMEC acquires Denver firm to create regional water resources hub
Denver, Colo., Oct. 20, 2003 -- AMEC, an international engineering services company, announced the acquisition of Water & Waste Engineering, Inc. in a move that will help transform AMEC's Denver-area Earth & Environmental office into a regional water resources hub.
Water & Waste is an 8-person water resources engineering firm in Denver. The company's specialties include watershed management, surface water supply and development, groundwater supply development, urban drainage, hazardous waste management and the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated areas.
AMEC is purchasing selected assets and will assume Water & Waste's projects. The companies will combine offices in the Denver area.
"This is a strategic acquisition since Denver is a key location for the provision of groundwater and surface water management services to the U.S. Rocky Mountain region and the western Great Plains," said Roger Jinks, President of AMEC's Earth & Environmental operations.
"The acquisition also will expand our basic environmental consulting services in Denver, adding water resources, compliance auditing, site investigation and remediation to the energy-auditing, data-validation, hazard-mitigation and environmental-compliance services we already offer in that location," stated AMEC Executive Vice President Elaine Moore.
Water & Waste's professional engineers and scientists are led by principal engineer F. Robert "Bob" McGregor, Ph.D., PE and senior hydrogeologist Timothy Axley, PG. At AMEC's Denver office, McGregor will serve as technical director for water resources and Axley will oversee management of the environmental and water resources group.
