SMYRNA, Georgia, May 22, 2003 - Arch Chemicals, Inc. has received the bronze award for "Best in Advertising 2002" by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) for the company's "Betty Briquette" advertisement about its Constant Chlor® municipal drinking water treatment system that uses a briquette form of Arch's dry, calcium hypochlorite water sanitizer.
The award will be presented at the AWWA's annual conference in Anaheim, CA, on June 16, 2003.
The American Water Works Association's advertising awards are presented to firms whose advertising reflects a high degree of visual magnetism and a clear-cut, logical explanation of a product or service's benefits.
The Betty Briquette advertisements, which have been part of an ongoing campaign for more than two years, were created by The MacLyn Group, a marketing firm based in Downers Grove, Illinois. Reminiscent of classic cartoons, one recent ad features a "female" briquette complete with arms and legs and a fetching smile standing atop an Olympic-style winner's platform, while figures representing rival chlorine bleach and gas systems look up with envy. The MacLyn Group was established in 1996 and specializes in cutting-edge creative and solutions-based campaigns for their clients.
