IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 7, 2001 — Roex Inc. a California-based nutritional supplement company, heeded the call of the Red Cross with the donation of portable water filtration bottles for flood victims throughout West Virginia.
Floods that claimed five lives and left hundreds of families homeless devastated 16 counties in West Virginia. Ironically, safe drinking water is not readily in abundance in flood situations so the goal in providing the bottles is to offer some level of purification until normal clean water supplies are restored.
"On behalf of the disaster victims we serve, I want to thank Roex Inc. for their generous donation," said Abbe Keith, director of the Red Cross relief operation in West Virginia. "These devastating floods have created many needs, not the least of which is a need for clean, safe drinking water.
"When disaster strikes, it takes everyone from non-rofit organizations, civic groups, government, and the business community to pull together to facilitate the recovery effort. The Red Cross is grateful for the support and donations from the business community and Roex in particular."
