DEXTER, MI, Dec. 10, 2011-- QED Environmental System Inc.'s E-Z Tray® Air Strippers were recently certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 61: Drinking Water System Components - Health Effects, the nationally recognized health effects standard for all products that come in contact with drinking water. This marks the first self-contained air stripper that has been certified by NSF International, an independent global organization that writes public health standards and certifies products for water, food and consumer goods.

"Achieving NSF certification reflects QED's commitment to providing the highest quality products possible," says Dave Fischer, QED's Vice President of Technology. "This announcement coincides with the growing interest in using air strippers to remove volatile contaminants from community drinking water supplies, including recent applications from Wisconsin to Wyoming."

QED's low-profile E-Z Tray Air Strippers are quickly becoming the treatment option of choice due to their high removal efficiency, attractive pricing compared to alternatives and inherent savings in facilities and maintenance costs, their reduced footprint, and ease of use and implementation.

First and foremost, E-Z Tray air strippers are designed for high removal efficiencies of over 99% for many VOCs found in drinking water, which is reflected in draft US EPA standards for potable water VOC removal. QED's exclusive Online Performance Modeler allows users to determine the most efficient air stripper for their specific contaminant removal project.

Secondly, the E-Z Tray is competitively priced with other air stripping treatment technologies in both capital expenditure and O&M costs. Unlike packed towers, there is no costly packing media to replace, no need for chemical flushing and operating conditions are easy to observe.

The footprint of an E-Z Tray sliding tray stripper is up to 60% smaller than stacking tray air strippers and most units can be placed against a wall or in a corner, saving space and reducing building size. Their low-profile design reduces siting issues ̶ the 1,000 GPM unit is less than 10 feet high, and many models are available to fit beneath an 8-foot ceiling often allowing installation in existing water treatment facilities.

Lastly, unlike stacking tray strippers, there are no heavy trays to lift and no external tray seals that can leak, meaning the E-Z Tray requires only minimum downtime for cleaning with no overhead cranes for lifting and no need to break any piping connections to service the units. The easily accessible, front slide-out, stainless steel trays mean cleaning the E-Z Tray can be safely managed by one person.
