LOS ANGELES, CA, June 26, 2008 -- LionessLA, a Southern California-based event marketing and production firm, will help raise awareness and funds for the Global Water Foundation at Nightscape, an event celebrating the company's two-year anniversary and kicking off this year's Summer Nightlife Series.
"The Global Water Foundation is honored to be part of such an exciting event," said Johan Kriek, founder and international director of the Global Water Foundation. "We are overwhelmed by the widely growing support for our Foundation and its efforts to provide suitable drinking water and sanitation to needy communities worldwide."
Each year, LionessLA dedicates their anniversary celebration to a nonprofit organization to help raise funds and awareness for the charity at the annual event. Past charities include NextAid, RAINN and Haven House of Los Angeles.
Established in 2005, the Global Water Foundation is dedicated to providing clean water and adequate sanitation in areas where accessibility and supply are lacking or have been compromised. The foundation completed its first project in 2006, delivering clean water to more than 15,000 people in eastern Uganda, and is currently working in Manta, Ecuador to repair a destroyed pipeline that has left a community of more than 1,700 members without regular access to clean water.
The event is to be held on Thursday, June 26 at the Republic Restaurant and Lounge in West Hollywood, Calif. from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. In addition to Dasani and Evian, sponsors include Burke Williams Spa and Larabar, a Denver-based natural foods company. Entry is free and Los Angeles' DJ Lady Sha will be headlining the event, which is expected to attract more than 300 guests.
The Global Water Foundation was established as a charitable trust with the exclusive purpose of raising public awareness, providing technical assistance, supporting knowledge sharing, enabling technical innovation and research, and facilitating the provision of humanitarian aid throughout the developing world. The ultimate goal is to provide safe, healthy drinking water and adequate sanitation in areas where it is not available or where accessibility and supply have been compromised.
A native South-African, Johan Kriek founded the GWF in 2005 enlisting the support of celebrity friends including John McEnroe, Monica Seles, and Olympic icons such as Amanda Beard and Janet Evans. The Global Water Foundation is dedicated to delivering funds and technical assistance for clean water in the world's neediest communities.
LionessLA is a marketing and production firm with an emphasis on innovative nightlife experiences and special events.
