Glen Ellyn, IL, Oct. 16, 2012 -- When the Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) met September 24-25 in Chicago, Ill., it approved the publication of two new Industry Briefs: Water Treatment (available here) and Wastewater Treatment (available here). Both briefs were initiated and drafted by the association’s Educational Services Committee and join a mounting body of free, downloadable and educational materials designed to meet the needs of bearing distributors and end users by defining specific end-use bearing applications, critical design factors in those installations, preferred bearing choices and more.
For example, in the case of the water treatment and wastewater treatment installations, selected bearings must be suitable for wet environments which, in some cases, also accommodate harsh chemicals.
As in the case of all other BSA Industry Briefs, these documents also provide essential background on the overall processes of a specific industry along with an overview of potential bearing installations. Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment join Industry Briefs on Wind Power, Poultry and Cement Processes. All are available as free, downloadable PDF’s from the BSA website, www.bsahome.org. They are an excellent training resource or customer “leave-behind.” BSA extends specials thanks to Brian Short of Kaydon/Cooper for his help in preparing these educational tools.
BSA is the “must belong to organization for authorized bearing distributors.” An international service and educational organization of distributors representing a total of almost 100 companies distributing factory-warranted, anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of bearings and related products, the association’s mission says, “BSA is the forum to enhance networking and knowledge sharing and promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors.”
