MINOT, ND, Oct. 17, 2012 -- It's official, the city of Mayville has the best tasting tap water in North Dakota. Eight cities competed in the Annual Drinking Water Taste Test at the 84th annual North Dakota Water & Pollution Control Conference in Minot.
Conference attendees voted Valley City, Mandan, and Mayville as the top three contenders in a blind taste test, before a panel of judges made the final decision. The cities of Bismarck, Fargo, Garrison, Grand Forks and Wahpeton also competed. Mayville takes home a plaque and bragging rights. Mayville is located about 50 miles northwest of Fargo.
The ND chapter of the American Water Works Association (NDAWWA) puts on the Drinking Water Taste Test during the North Dakota Water and Pollution Control Conference every year. Past winners include Fargo (2011), Mayville (2010), Valley City (2009), and Grand Forks (2008).
The ND Water and Pollution Control Conference is a joint effort of NDAWWA, the North Dakota Section of the Water Environment Association (WEA) and the North Dakota Section of the American Public Works Association.
