WASHINGTON, DC, Nov. 10, 2009 -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Water, through collaboration with its partners in the water sector, has officially launched the Water Laboratory Alliance (WLA). The WLA provides the water sector access to an integrated, nationwide network of laboratories with the analytical capability and capacity to respond to an intentional or unintentional water contamination event.
The WLA integrates drinking water, wastewater, public health and environmental laboratories and commercial laboratories with drinking and wastewater analytical capabilities. The WLA focuses solely on water and is an integral part of EPA's Environmental Response Laboratory Network (ERLN).
