SAN DIEGO, CA, Oct. 16, 2009 -- Poseidon Resources issued the following statement today in response to the most recent lawsuit filed by opponents of sea water desalination:
"These are the same tired arguments that have been rejected in their four previous lawsuits. None of the claims appear to be related to a concern for the environment and they appear to have been made simply to try to stop the project. This latest lawsuit involves the final design approvals for the project, which merely involve improvements and enhancements that allow the project to have a smaller footprint on the site and operate more efficiently."
Opponents to the Carlsbad Desalination Project have had an extensive and unsuccessful history of filing legal challenges and appealing project permit approvals. This is the 5th lawsuit (first four were dismissed) and the 9th legal challenge including permit appeals.
Poseidon Resources specializes in developing and financing water infrastructure projects, primarily seawater desalination and water treatment plants. These projects are implemented through innovative public-private partnerships in which private enterprise assumes the developmental and financial risks.
