HARRINGTON PARK, NJ, July 29, 2009 -- United Water, one of the largest providers of water and wastewater services in the nation, is beginning a five-year contract to provide safe and reliable drinking water to the Village of Hyannis, MA. Hyannis is the largest of the seven villages in the Town of Barnstable, the county seat of Barnstable County, and one of five water districts in the Town. The agreement with the Town of Barnstable has the potential for three five-year extensions.
Under the terms of its contract, United Water will operate, manage and maintain the complete water system, which includes four water treatment facilities, 12 wells, two water storage standpipes and approximately 106 miles of distribution piping.
