Rigorous testing of AA Thread’s VB3® Enhanced Polywrap has demonstrated added benefits over standard Polywrap for ductile iron pipe. Aside from creating a barrier between the surface of the pipe and potentially corrosive soil, it also further actively fights many other forms of corrosion. The inside surface of the wrap is infused with a Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) as well as an anti-microbial additive. The VCI will help neutralize any corrosive liquids that may seep between the wrap and the pipe. While the anti-microbial additive mitigates the growth of corrosion causing bacteria. Both these were tested by multiple different third party labs for effectiveness and passed with very impressive results. The anti-microbial additive was tested against anaerobic bacteria that causes microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC).
When tested side by side with the leading competitor as well as standard Polywrap as a control, both the Enhanced Polyethylene Encasements reduced the bacteria at a rate of over 99.99%, while the standard wrap not only allowed the bacteria to stay living but it was able to thrive. WW
