Blue-White®’s MS-6 Ultrasonic Flowmeter is an innovative new addition to flowmeter offerings in the water and wastewater treatment industries.

The MS-6 Flowmeter uses transit time ultrasonic technology to offer a broad flow range.

Industry professionals not only require an instrument that monitors flow rate, but it also needs to be extremely accurate. The MS-6 satisfies both requirements. It has measurable flowrates down to 10 mL per minute (0.15 gallons per hour) and up to 10,000 mL per minute (158.5 gallons per hour).

Features of the MS-6 include a 4-20 mA output, frequency output, and high and low flow setpoints that can be utilized for no flow alarms. In addition, the flowmeter has numerous system warning functions such as air bubble or empty pipe problems, which are crucial to operations.

Alarming a no flow condition is critical at plants. No flow conditions can indicate there is a block in the chemical line or that the chemical tank is empty. While chemical controllers can provide this feedback, it takes time for the system to register a large drop in PH, and for the controller to signal an alarm. However, the MS-6 communicates these problems instantaneously with the SCADA control system. This capability helps ensure minimal down time and loss of production at the plant.

Accurately monitoring the amount of chemical being dosed into the system is crucial to ensure effective water treatment. An overdose or underdose of chemical can adversely affect the quality of the treated water and leads to wasted chemical, which has a financial impact.

With PVDF and PEEK wetted components, NSF 61 approval, and the necessary features to accurately monitor chemical dosing, the MS-6 is a good fit for drinking water applications.

Heyward Incorporated, a leading manufacturer’s representative of water and wastewater process equipment, currently utilizes the MS-6 flowmeter at their branch in Charlotte, N.C. Heyward was using the gear flowmeter in a 20 percent cationic filter aid polymer neat feed application.

Following easy installation of the MS-6, there has been no flowmeter failure and the meter readings have consistently been accurate based on draw downs. WW
