Water Line Project To Use Liner System
Underground Solutions, Inc. as announced that its Duraliner Water Line Replacement System has been selected to replace approximately 2000 linear feet of deteriorated 12 in. water main in the Town of Takoma Park, MD, for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
Bids for the proposed work were opened on December 10th and the successful bidder was J. Fleatcher Creamer & Son, Inc. with a bid of $394,700. Upon formal acceptance by the Commission, work on the project should begin in the spring of 2003.
Duraliner is a patented process for pipeline renewal resulting in a "stand alone" structural lining capable of handling internal minimum operating pressures of 150 psi with a 3.2 safety factor. The liner conforms to NSF 61 Standards for Drinking Water Components/Health Effects. In addition, it provides an equivalent design-life of new PVC pipelines (75 years) thus qualifying the rehabilitated pipelines to be capitalized as new assets under the rules of GASB Statement 34.
