Cybernet has been a major player in the water distribution modeling industry since the original release of version 1.0 almost a decade ago. The new version of Cybernet combines state-of-the-art matrix solutions with an intuitive interface.

Cybernet has two graphical editors. One works directly inside AutoCAD, integrating AutoCAD Rx, Microsoft COM (Common Object Model) and Haestad’s own object models. The other is a CAD stand-alone graphical user interface. Both editors can be used interchangeably with the same model data.

In AutoCAD mode, all model construction, editing, solving and management is performed within an actual AutoCAD editing session. This operating mode allows the user to draw from the full power and capabilities of AutoCAD release 14. It allows for detailed mapping of model features and provides the full array of output and presentation features available in AutoCAD.
In the Stand Alone Mode, all modeling activities are performed in a Windows stand-alone client. All of the native graphical layout, edit and model management features available in AutoCAD mode are available in the stand-alone facility.

The menu facilities are virtually identical. One advantage of this feature is that it uses less system resources and memory, since AutoCAD does not need to run. That allows the system to operate and update at a quicker rate, especially with larger models that strain system resources.

With the new software, it is possible to create a network within AutoCAD, adding the figures directly to the drawing. Or, the user can define the pipe network using Haestad’s CAD-style drag and drop interface.

New nodes, such as junctions, pumps, tanks, etc., can be dropped into a model using a mouse. The pipe will automatically split proportionally. Existing elements can be morphed by simply dragging and dropping the new element on top of the old one.
The system also features “scenario” management. Users can determine how a pipe network will react to a given set up circumstances by developing a number of “what-if” models, including demand and water quality conditions, pump control strategies and physical alternatives. A batch of scenarios can be run at the same time, and the results compared graphically.
