Water main break causes inmates to be relocated
AMHERST, VA, JULY 11, 2017 -- Inmates at a Virginia jail were temporarily transferred to another jail following a water main break in a nearby town.
The Washington Postreports that 98 inmates at the Pittsylvania County Jail were moved to the Amherst County Adult Detention Center on Friday after the town of Chatham experienced a water main break last week.
The move was made to relieve the impact of using already stressed water lines. Officials say the inmates will return to their facility within a week.
