Workshops to be sponsored by Idaho Associated General Contractors and U.S. EPA
Aug. 1, 2002 -- To help members of Idaho's development and construction industry better understand the requirements of federal storm water regulations, the Idaho Associated General Contractors (Idaho AGC) and The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have joined forces to hold a series of informational workshops across the state.
Workshops are scheduled for Idaho Falls(Aug. 20), Boise (Aug. 22), and Coeur d'Alene (Aug. 28). Registration cost is $60 per person, which includes all course materials, refreshments and lunch.
Tailored specifically for the construction trade, each workshop will feature both Idaho erosion control experts and EPA officials, who will present the latest in storm water pollution control techniques and regulation details. They will also be available to answer questions and will offer attendees additional information resources.
The workshops are being conducted in advance of EPA construction site inspections in Idaho, which are slated for the Fall of 2002. The purpose of the federal storm water runoff regulations for developers and construction firms is to ensure that soil from construction sites does not end up polluting Idaho's streams, rivers and lakes.
Topics covered in the workshops will include :
* Which construction activities require a storm water permit
* How to apply for permit coverage for your site
* New EPA requirements for construction sites in March 2003, as well as additional Idaho cities that will be subject to the requirements in March 2003
* What you should expect during a site inspection
* Workable erosion and sediment controls for Idaho construction sites.
