WATERBURY, CT, January 9, 2002 -- Thuringowa, one of the fastest growing cities in Australia, selected Haestad Methods' SewerCAD wastewater management software to analyze and design the city's sewerage infrastructure.
Located on the northeastern shore of Queensland, the popular tourist-destination purchased SewerCAD to assess the impact of a new pump station on the beach community's existing sewer system. Project engineers simulated the collection system's response to the additional pump to ensure that system operation and capacity would comply with stringent government requirements.
"The main purpose of the project was to verify the design performance of the new sewage pump station and determine the best way to keep the system operating within the Environmental Protection Authority's guidelines," said Desmond Moseley, Thuringowa Asset Engineer.
"We chose SewerCAD to ensure that enhancements to the city's wastewater infrastructure are developed efficiently and effectively to accommodate the high rate of expansion within our community. Our experience with SewerCAD has been successful because of its intuitive interface and accurate representation of wastewater conditions," Moseley continued.
SewerCAD is a design and analysis tool that allows users to layout sanitary sewage collection systems, develop and compute sanitary loads, and simulate the hydraulic response of the entire system-including gravity collection and rising mains. This sanitary sewer modeling software features design capabilities for sizing and locating sewer system pipes on either a system-wide or pipe-by-pipe basis.
"SewerCAD's increased flexibility and manageability has attracted engineers from around the world including several municipalities in Australia," said Douglas Maitland, Director of Asia-Pacific Sales for Haestad Methods. "The extended-period simulation and animation features provide modelers with comprehensive insight into the simulated hydraulic response of the entire system."
