April 11, 2002 -- "Forces shaping the water and wastewater industry" is this year's theme for WWEMA's 29th Annual Washington Forum, to be held on April 25-26 in Washington, D.C.
The water and wastewater industry is being changed by a number of forces, including:
• the Administration's new trade promotion policy
• China's entry into the World Trade Organization
• public uprising against animal waste runoff
• terrorist threats to our nation's water and wastewater systems
• a decaying infrastructure
• a $35 billion congressional funding initiative
• new demands for innovative technologies and verification protocols
• continuing industry consolidations
• increasing privatization
• tighter regulatory requirements
The organization, which represents water and wastewater equipment manufacturers in the U.S., has attempted to put together a program which delves into these pivotal topics.
Several market analysts, legislative and regulatory officials, international trade specialists, and industry representatives have been invited to share their insights into the these and issues of interest to WWEMA members.
