PASADENA, Calif., Nov. 4, 2003 -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that a subsidiary company was selected by the San Diego County Water Authority to support the Authority's Emergency Storage Project to improve the reliability of the water supply to San Diego County's 2.9 million residents.
Officials did not disclose the value of the contract, which covers four years and includes services during the pre-construction and construction phases of the project.
Jacobs will provide construction management and inspection services for the Lake Hodges Projects portion of the Emergency Storage Project. The Lake Hodges Projects include a 12-foot-diameter high-pressure water transmission tunnel that spans 6,100 feet and a 40-megawatt pump-turbine facility operating between two reservoirs.
A regional distributor will purchase the power generated by the pump-turbine facility.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Michael Higgins stated, "The Lake Hodges Projects benefit the Authority and the residents of San Diego by improving the supply of two critical local resources: water and power. We are pleased to bring our wide-ranging skills in tunneling, pipelines, pumping stations, and power generation to serve the Authority on this important project."
